On Monday March 23rd the Select US Summit was kicked off in the Washington DC area. January 22, 2015 – Members of NACC MA took part in today’s “Green Shipping – Technology for a Low-Emission Maritime Sector” Breakfast Seminar hosted by The Royal Norwegian Embassy in cooperation with DNV-GL and the Norwegian Shipowners Association. Norway’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms Monica Mæland attended and gave an interesting speech on the topic of promoting Green Maritime Industry. Friday December 12, Marit & Ellen Marie from the Seamen’s Church visited Kongsberg in Alexandria for a short briefing and tour. They brought with them everything they needed to make real Norwegian ‘vafler”. Thank you to the representatives from the church for taking time to bring some christmas spirit and Norwegian traditions to the office. NACCMA was very lucky to take part in this tasteful event.
Monday, December 8, NACCMA members participated in celebrating Norway’s Bicentennial “birthday party” last Monday, hosted by the Royal Norwegian Embassy and Ambassador Kåre Aas. The event took place at the Embassy, and included an art exhibition, book-sale, brass band and guest were served a traditional Norwegian birthday cake (lit with 200 candles!) December 1 2014, The Annual Norwegian Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Union Station in Washington, D.C. took place last night! A beautiful ceremony with christmas carols from carollers of greater Washington DC, performance from Sami Artist and Author Ms. Sara Margrethe Oskal, as well as remarks from Ambassador Kåre Aas and Senator Ann Klobuchar. Thank you to the Embassy and everyone organizing for a great event and beautiful ceremony.
November 14, 2014 STATSRAAD LEHMKUHL, a three-masted barque rigged vessel, visited Norfolk last week. The vessel is used to train sailors from the Royal Norwegian Navy. She was built in 1914 by the German merchant marine. England received her as war-price after World War I and was later sold to Norway. On November 14, the Royal Norwegian Navy and the Norwegian NATO contingency in Norfolk hosted a reception onboard. November 14, 2014 Team Norway participated in a two-day conference at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Washington DC. Team Norway consists of representatives from the Norwegian Embassy in DC and Ottawa, representatives from the various General Consulates in the US, Innovation Norway, Norwegian Seafood Council, Norwegian American Defense industry/Homeland Security Council, and Norwegian American Chamber of Commerce (New York and Mid-Atlantic). The meeting was hosted by His Excellency, Ambassador Kåre Aas, and included many interesting topics and discussions around the US-Norwegian trade and investment relationship.
