June 11, 2015; The Royal Norwegian Embassy hosted members from the NACC MA for the Annual Embassy Roundtable. Counselors for economics, politics, culture, science, climate and defense gave each a brief on their current activities and priorities. Ambassador Kåre Aas and Major General Finn Kristian Hannestad attended as well and gave a brief. The program included a special topic presentation on energy from new red corporate member Statoil and representative from the Department of Commerce attended and presented as well. Norway Creates Jobs in the US The Norwegian American Chamber of Commerce Mid-Atlantic Chapter interviewed Ms Nina Langli from the Norwegian Embassy on April 29, to discuss the project “Norway Creates Jobs in the US” to get a better understanding of the project and who the beneficiaries are. Nina Langli works as a project manager at the Norwegian Embassy and is in collaboration with the Norwegian American Chamber of Commerce, Innovation Norway, Norwegian American Defense Industry Council, the Consul Generals, INTSOK and the Seafood Council conducting a project about Norway’s standing as a substantial investor in the US. April 24 – NACC MA took part in a morning seminar in Chesapeake, Norfolk, discussing on the topic of “Invest in Norway & TTIP: possible implications for Norway”. On Monday March 23rd the Select US Summit was kicked off in the Washington DC area. The Summit provided potential foreign investors from all corners of the world with a wealth information and opportunities in one place as why a company should invest in the US. The Summit was a two day event with more than 2,600 attendees. Speakers at both the break out and joint sessions where global CEO’s and Senior US leaders. January 22, 2015 – Members of NACC MA took part in today’s “Green Shipping – Technology for a Low-Emission Maritime Sector” Breakfast Seminar hosted by The Royal Norwegian Embassy in cooperation with DNV-GL and the Norwegian Shipowners Association. Norway’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms Monica Mæland attended and gave an interesting speech on the topic of promoting Green Maritime Industry. Friday December 12, Marit & Ellen Marie from the Seamen’s Church visited Kongsberg in Alexandria for a short briefing and tour. They brought with them everything they needed to make real Norwegian ‘vafler”.
