The reception included speakers from different sectors, all discussing the relationship between Norway and The United States. Assistant Defense and Naval Attaché in the Royal Norwegian Navy, Captain Erik Bøe, discussed Norway as a Maritime nation focusing on the Royal Norwegian Navy. Mrs. Katharina Brekke Powers represented NACC-MA and discussed the chamber, and it’s growing membership base. Representing the Royal Norwegian Embassy was Minister Counselor of Economic Affairs Leif Trana, who presented the Embassy’s recently published report Norway Creates Jobs. On January 25th, NACC-MA held its biggest Young Associate event yet, in collaboration with the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce and the American-Danish Business Council. 60 young professionals from Scandinavia as well as the U.S attended the event, hosted by the Embassy of Denmark. Attendees listened to speakers from Statoil, Terma and Skanska speak about being Scandinavian companies competing in the U.S market, and enjoyed drinks and food at a networking reception in the Ambassadors residence after. NACC-MA had the honor of hosting a reception event at the magnificent Norwegian tallship Statsraad Lemkhul in Norfolk. The ship had sailed all the way from Bergen, Norway. Members and guests of NACC-MA got the honor of listening to inspiring speeches by our own Katharina Brekke-Powers as well as co-host Col. Gerhard Larsen from the Norwegian Airforce, while enjoying a full meal of traditional Norwegian food
Together with our Dansih colleagues from the American-Danish Business Council, NACC-MA hosted a happy hour for Young Nordic Associates. With a great turnout from all of the Nordic countries, Young Associates had the opportunity to Network and Socialize with their Nordic colleagues. NACC-MA is looking forward to strengthen the Nordic Young Associate community further with exciting events in the future. Stay tuned!
On November 3rd NACC New York Chapter hosted its annual NACC Trade awards at the Metropolitan Club in New York. KONGSBERG has been nominated for this year’s Trade Award as well as Mr Are Traasdahl receiving this year’s Achievement award for his outstanding entrepreneurial successes.

On June 21-23, Ambassador Heins led a delegation of companies and trade and investment organizations from Norway at the Select USA Investment Summit in Washington, D.C. President Obama was the keynote speaker and emphasized that “when your companies come together, you help bring countries and cultures together. you generate greater understanding among people from different parts of the world. That’s one of the most important things that you produce, and you should never underestimate its value”. The NACC-MA appreciates the opportunity to be included and part take such a great event.
The chambers and councils ADBC, BABA, FACC, NACC and SACC-DC co-hosted a European Networking event on June 7th, 2016 at the Embassy of France. The event featured Mr. Alan Gregerman ‘one of the most original thinkers in business today’ and was followed by a networking session. The event had a great turn out and we thank Mr. Gregerman for his brilliant remarks. We look forward co-hosting events with our European friends in the future.
Together with the Royal Norwegian Embassy and Norwegian companies Statoil and DNV GL, NACC-MA hosted an Energy Reception at the Norwegian Ambassador’s Residence on Tuesday, June 14th. The evening program featured speakers from Statoil and DNV GL and we had the opportunity to learn more about Statoil’s 2016 Energy Outlook and development of offshore wind in the U.S., as well as DNV GL’s vision for floating offshore wind. The 1-hour program was followed by a networking reception where our 70 guests enjoyed Norwegian salmon and ‘meat soup’. A big thanks to everyone who participated and made this a great event!
