NACC MA is pleased to welcome Höegh LNG, a fully integrated LNG transportation and services company, as the first new corporate member in 2008.
The Norwegian shipping company is operating a fleet of six LNG carriers of which five are wholly or partly owned, and has two innovative Shuttle and Re-gasification Vessels (SRVs) on order. Their vessels will be transporting LNG to the Cove Point terminal in Maryland
from StaoilHydro's LNG plant at Melkoya in Northern Norway. The natural gas will be distributed to consumers in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Höegh LNG is finding new ways of delivering LNG by its innovative SRV system and is planning to start delivery of LNG to the Neptune LNG facility 10 miles off Boston in 2009. The Neptune project is being developed to provide between 400 and 750 million cubic feet of natural gas per day -- enough to serve 1.5 million to 3 million homes daily in Massachusetts and the other New England states.
