Scientists from FFI - the Norwegian Defense Research Establishment, and representatives from the Royal Norwegian Embassy, the NACC MA Defense Technology Committee and member companies met in Washington D.C on April 30, 2004 to discuss ways in which to further enhance bi-lateral co-operation in defense related research and technology.

Presentations were given by Espen Skjelland, "Trends and Challenges in Norwegian Defense Planning", Terje Wahl " U.S. Military Technology Trends As Seen From A Small Nation" and Tore Vamraak " Major Challenges In The Legacy Force As Candidates For Transformation".
Discussions included the rapid development of defense technologies in the U.S., modernization of Norwegian armed forces and implementation of new technologies on various platforms in the Norwegian navy, air force and army, and the need for interoperability driven by extended international cooperative military functions, and NATO's new military role. Representatives from our member companies and the Defense Technology Committee were key players in the debate. It was suggested by the Embassy to follow up the discussions with an extended group in the future.
