The purpose of this committee is to address (a) maritime transportation
related developments; (b) maritime regulatory developments, particularly
with regard to maritime security, safety at sea and environmental protection
and (c) maritime technology, including offshore activity in the United
States and Norway. The committee will focus on efforts to improve trade and
cooperation within these domains between the two countries and support
business opportunities for our members in the maritime sector.
The committee consists of members with professional expertise and experience
in the maritime industry and hosts meetings with high level governmental and
private sector representatives.
The committee maintains a network of contacts with the Embassy's shipping
section, Norwegian and U.S. politicians, MARAD, USCG, shipyards,
Classification Societies, oil companies, environmental associations,
research institutes, contractors and technology manufacturers. The network
will provide the basis for development of goodwill, effective bridge
building, and business relations in the maritime related sectors. For more
